RESCO Increases Contribution to United Way by More Than 50% in 2008
Understanding that times are tough and getting tougher, the management and staff at RESCO decided to make a concerted effort to increase their collective contribution to United Way St. Croix Valley this year. The 2007 contribution to United Way was a little over $5,000. This year RESCO’s contribution has already exceeded $8,000. According to company CEO, Eric Strand, “The employees here realize that times are tough. They also know, with the economy, there will be fewer contributions to organizations like the United Way while the need for those not as fortunate will be greater than ever. They have more than risen to the occasion by increasing their support for United Way this year.”
President, John Knutson also states, “As our company continues to grow we understand that it’s important to give back to the community in which we make our living. I’m proud of the efforts of our Human Resource Manager, Sherry DeLong and the campaign which she was able to coordinate with our team. Collectively the employees have done a tremendous job that should help many in the community who depend on the United Way for their support.” "To accomplish the feat DeLong met one on one with employees to offer the payroll deduction and other giving options; she also put together a ‘Live United Day’ at RESCO where the management bought the food, supplies and materials to cook Brats & Burgers for employees for a Free Will offering for all employees,
and she also put together silent auction items that ran for the day with all the proceeds going to the United Way.
United Way statistics show that almost 80% of the United Way’s revenue comes from Payroll Deduction. Executive Director, John Coughlin says, “RESCO has always been a strong supporter of United Way St. Croix Valley. While it will be difficult for us to reach our goal this year, it’s very encouraging to see a company like RESCO increase their contribution to United Way by over 50% from the year before. That is exemplary and very much appreciated.” Coughlin went on to say, “In addition to their contribution to United Way, RESCO supports the Food Resource Center with a 3-year, $3,000 commitment and they also provide pallets of surplus food product from the clients they serve in the foodservice industry that would otherwise just be discarded. United Way and the pantries served by the Food Resource Center appreciate RESCO and what they help us do within the communities we serve.”
