Success By 6

United Way St. Croix Valley's Success By 6 program promotes healthy early childhood development to ensure children enter school ready to succeed.  We work with a network of community partners to build communities where all children have the necessary physical, mental, emotional, and social development before age six to successfully grow and learn.

Success By 6's top priorities are that:

  • Parents and caregivers will have the knowledge and training to provide children with safe, stable, and supportive environments.
  • Parents and children will have opportunities for group interaction, education, and support.
  • Communities will understand the importance of quality early childhood development programs and work to strengthen services.
  • Parents and community caregivers will be aware of community resources and have the information needed to access them.
  • All children will receive age-appropriate developmental screening to identify possible delays and provide parents with referrals to services.

We work to achieve these priorities through programs, projects, and initiatives in partnership with early childhood resources in Burnett, Pierce, Polk, and St. Croix Counties.

UNITED WAY ST. CROIX VALLEY FAMILY NAVIGATOR PROGRAM

Our Family Navigator Program provides one-on-one support for families with young children to assist in identifying and connecting with all the community has to offer. The navigator’s role is to partner with parents, provide consultation and offer education to assist the family in developing long-term solutions that support family well-being.

WALK, ROLL & READ

Walk, Roll & Read events bring families and children together at local parks to enjoy a nature walk with story tents and children's activities along the way.  Hosted by United Way's Success By 6 program and our community partners, Walk, Roll & Read provides an opportunity for parents, caregivers, and children to enjoy a walk through the woods, read and participate in fun activities together, and learn more about community resources.  All children in attendance are able to select a brand new book of their choice to take home donated by United Way.

Access to a sufficient supply of diapers is essential for the health of infants and toddlers, but too many families do not have the resources to adequately provide for this basic need.  Success By 6 is partnering with agencies to help build the diaper supply network in communities in ourinfant region that currently have extremely limited or no resources that provide free diapers for children in need.  Our new diaper drive partnership with St. Croix Regional Medical Center, for example, will help supply free diapers for children in Polk and Burnett Counties.  Read more HERE.

Your organization can partner with United Way St. Croix Valley to host a diaper drive for your community!  Hosting a diaper drive is fun, plus we help make it easy by providing resources, assistance, and marketing materials to increase the success of your drive.  To learn more, contact United Way's Success By 6 Program Director, Betsy Byker, at betsy.byker@unitedwaystcroix.org or (715) 377-0203 ext. 104.

If you are a parent/caregiver that is having difficulty affording diapers for your child, you can access free diaper resources by calling 2-1-1 and asking to be connected to the Success By 6 Early Childhood Family Navigator.
